By creating an account or using Tuma Hela's website, mobile application, or remittance services (the "Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of a supported Diaspora country to use the Services. You must complete identity verification (KYC) before sending funds above the applicable threshold.
Tuma Hela enables direct, controlled payments from the Diaspora to verified beneficiaries and service providers in Kenya — including school fees, rent, hospital bills, utilities, and other essential services — as well as general family support transfers. Funds are disbursed via M-Pesa through the Safaricom Daraja network.
Applicable fees and the exchange rate for each transaction are displayed and confirmed before you finalize payment. Rates are locked for a limited window once confirmed.
Certain transactions — particularly first-time beneficiaries or amounts above our standard threshold — may be held for manual review before disbursement. We may request additional documentation to complete verification. Transactions left unresolved past the stated deadline may be automatically cancelled and refunded.
You may not use the Services for unlawful purposes, including money laundering, terrorist financing, or transactions involving sanctioned individuals or entities. We reserve the right to decline, delay, reverse, or report any transaction that raises compliance concerns.
Vendors, schools, hospitals, and other service providers accepting payments through Tuma Hela must complete our verification process and agree to the separate Merchant/Service Provider Partnership Agreement before receiving settlements.
Tuma Hela is not liable for delays or failures caused by third-party payment or telecommunications providers (including Bridge.xyz and Safaricom) that are outside our reasonable control, beyond making reasonable efforts to resolve and, where appropriate, refund affected transactions.
We may suspend or restrict accounts that violate these Terms, fail verification, or are associated with suspected fraudulent activity.
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@tumahela.com.
